Alcohol Awareness Week
How our Social Prescribers can help with alcohol concerns.
Alcohol Awareness Week runs from Monday 1 to Sunday July 7, 2024, with the theme 'Understanding Alcohol Harm'.
Our social prescribers can provide non-medical support services to our patients, providing guidance and resources related to alcohol harm reduction not only during this week but throughout the year.
Here are some ways social prescribers can help:
- They can connect you to local support services, support groups, counselling services, or community organisations specialising in alcohol-related issues.
- Social prescribers can give you leaflets and information about alcohol harm, safe drinking guidelines, and available treatment options. They can discuss various healthy lifestyle choices, recommend exercise programmes, and provide resources for stress management techniques and mindfulness practices.
- Social prescribers may suggest community group activities and events for wellbeing and social connections as alternatives to alcohol-related gatherings. If you have any concerns about alcohol or need support, please reach out to us and ask about social prescribing services.
Any one of us can find ourselves drinking too much alcohol at some point in our lives. If you're worried about your drinking, support is available.
