Ann from New Queen Street passes her prescribing course
Congratulations to Ann Cameron from New Queen Street who has successfully passed her prescribing course.
Ann, who is a Sister, had to complete her advanced clinical skills course at Anglia Ruskin first to be eligible for the prescribing course. She said: 'It has been very demanding year as I worked at New Queen Street alongside my studies. I thought the first course was busy, but the non-medical prescribing took a huge amount of study and effort. I postponed it for years due to other commitments so passing now is a huge achievement! Being able to prescribe some items means that patients should get their prescriptions more quickly and it will help to take some of the pressure off GPs.'
Ann, who trained as a Royal Navy nurse, joined New Queen Street 18 years ago: 'I mainly deal with minor illness, chronic disease management and infection control and also help out in the treatment room. The work is demanding but I love the people here and the variety of the role. Studying has really boosted my skills and confidence. Thanks to Dr Garrett, the Partners and my family for their support.'
