The whole team at the Hereward Practice would like to extend their thanks and best wishes to Dr Lindsay Taylor, who is retiring at the end of March, after 17 years with us.
Dr Taylor qualified at the University of Southampton and has lived and worked in both the UK and overseas, before settling locally and joining us at the Hereward Practice.
There have been huge challenges to all General Practices in the UK, and Lindsay is especially proud of the way the Hereward Practice has managed the Covid Pandemic, the significant rise in the demand for appointments, improving patient access, all while providing better care for our patients.
Lindsay said: 'The last 17 years at the Hereward Practice have been the highlight of my 33 years in the NHS. Sharing the lives and journeys of the patients of Bourne, has been a privilege and is the heart of General Practice; being able to form real bonds with patients, the laughs and the tears. I take with me so many memories.
'Working with such a close-knit team, the Hereward Practice has a real family-feel that has held us together through the ups and downs of General Practice over the years and I will miss being part of such a great team that really pulls together, especially in the hard times. General Practice is a full time, often relentless commitment, and it is time for me to take a break, take a breath, and put myself a little higher up my priority list!
'We constantly strive to improve the care for our patients, navigating all the difficulties that are thrown at the NHS and I am confident that with such a great team and with your support, this will continue for years to come.
'Thank you to everyone for their support and well wishes as I embark on the next exciting phase of my journey.'
After a short break and spending more time with family, Lindsay would like to help the future generation of GPs by training and mentoring Medical Students and potentially supporting Women's health initiatives.
Practice Manager Tracey Mason said: 'The whole team will miss Lindsay's optimism and energy. She has been a fantastic colleague to work with and we wish her a very happy and restful retirement, doing whatever she loves and spending time with her family.'
Non-Executive Director and GP Partner, Dr Tom Ashley-Norman, said: 'We all wish Lindsay a well-deserved, long and happy retirement. She has seen a lot of big changes over her tenure and she should leave feeling proud that she leaves a practice that is thriving - not in any small part due to her commitment, resilience and good nature. She has been a pivotal figure in helping the staff through the highs and lows of General Practice. We hope she has an amazing retirement, full of rest, relaxation and locum sessions here at The Hereward!'
Dr Louise Thompson is joining the practice as a GP Partner in April.
