Introducing Stamford's new Lead Nurse

Bev Williams, Stamford's new Lead Nurse, says that continuing to deliver patient-centred care and recruiting more nursing colleagues are priorities.

'We need to make Primary Care nursing appealing and the Lead Nurse role is about communication, encouragement and making change where it is needed for us to move ahead as a team. It is also about implementing systems that work best for our patients and nursing team.'

Bev, an advanced nurse practitioner, held a similar role at another Lakeside practice, and has already seen positive changes since joining the Stamford team in March:

'Doctrin, the online consultation system which was introduced then has been really positive for patients and staff. It is about about best practice and thinking about the best way to progress.'

She is looking forward to increasing and developing the nursing team:

'Our nurses are experienced and committed so it is about asking them what additional systems or training they would like in order to make the most of their skills. Ideally, I would like to lead a full nursing team where everyone is happy and developed to their full potential. It is important to be patient-centred and new team members bring a range of experience, a different outlook and new ideas, all of which are important as we aim to continue with positivity and professionalism.'
