Yaxley's Ops Lead completes IOSH qualification

Well done to Operations Lead, Leanne Barsby, on successfully completing the IOSH Managing Safely qualification to assess and reduce risk in the workplace.

Leanne, the Finance and Operations Lead, is involved in health and safety at Yaxley practice and the IOSH course is a recognised qualification for managers and supervisors. It covers hazards such as fire, heights, electricity, slips and trips and infection prevention and control. There was also training on how to carry out risk assessments, investigating incidents and measuring performance.

All of the Operations Leads at our sites are undertaking the IOSH training, which Leanne says was relevant and will help greatly with the day-to-day challenges of a busy surgery. 'There were different modules and activities to complete including assessing risks in your practice and devising your own risk assessments. There was a lot of information to take in, however it was very helpful. I was given time at work to do the course as it is so relevant to my role. I previously completed an IOSH course but this one was more in depth. I do have a weekly walk around site every Monday and any hazards are reported and dealt with and my colleagues are really good at reporting things that are wrong or faulty to keep Yaxley as safe and compliant as possible.'
