Congratulations to our new Head of Nursing, Vicky Ward, who will lead the nursing and allied health professionals across our Partnership. She has experience in both Primary and Secondary Care and also in the private sector, in charge of Occupational Health for Network Rail.
Vicky has been at Lakeside Healthcare for five years, with the last two being as Lead Nurse at Oundle. She is familiar with the needs and aspirations of the Partnership and will work closely with the Medical Directors and colleagues.
Vicky said: 'My role is about influencing and empowering our nursing and allied health professionals, taking their needs into account. It is about looking at practitioners' strengths and skill-sets, offering training, support, opportunities and advancement.'
She is keen to develop productive relationships with training providers, encouraging more people into Primary Care at the start of their careers and offering flexible working so that colleagues, and their skills, are retained long term.
'My role will be about working environments, team dynamics and wanting to improve our clinical teams, encouraging them to continue with their training and working with some of the local education providers so we are on the radar for student nurses. I want to empower and give our nursing and allied health professionals the voice and opportunity to improve healthcare, so clear communication and teamwork is essential.
This is the perfect time for a challenge and, having recently completed my Master's degree, I have a range of relevant skills around governance, human resources, leadership and management, which I am looking forward to bringing to the role. I am also looking forward to meeting the teams at site and building positive relationships.'
