Debbie Murphy, the Operations Manager at Lakeside St Neots, is not afraid of a challenge, having stepped up to the role two years ago to maintain the infrastructure of the practice's sites.
These comprise Eaton Socon Health Centre, the Cedar House town centre practice and the smaller Dumbelton hub, which had been used as a Covid vaccination centre. Debbie looks after the building management, services, IT and general maintenance across all sites, working with contractors and project managers to ensure that works are completed with the minimum of disruption to patient services.
Debbie relishes the challenge of learning a new role as previously she was patient facing as a receptionist before becoming supervisor receptionist. She said: 'I have been here for 15 and a half years and when the practice merged with Lakeside this job came up and I thought "what have I got to lose?" It has been a big learning curve but Sarah Parren, our practice manager) has been a great support and we have put lots of processes in place. I had a spreadsheet which highlighted what needed to be done and we also have a program, Radar, to ensure we are compliant and that all our routine checks are completed on time. I am a very structured person and have a core group of contractors to call on.'
'I love my job, it is so varied. I love working with Sarah and the team at Lakeside St Neots. We also have great support from the partners and our reception and admin teams. We are like a large family.'
